From celebrities like Jim Carrey ditching Facebook over shady ties to Russia, to writers and publishers jumping ship because of bizarre algorithm changes, it feels like everyone online is either fleeing Facebook or eyeing the exit door.

But here’s the thing: despite all the drama, there are still some solid reasons to stick around — even when the internet’s busy trolling and ghosting the platform.

Facebook: Our Childhood Buddy

For many of us who’ve been on Facebook since the early days, it holds a special place in our memories.

I still remember the endless hours spent playing multiplayer games like Farmville, obsessively posting every little farm upgrade — sometimes for six hours straight!

And who could forget the infamous pokes? Some people loved poking me.

Then there were the friend requests — often full of hilarious typos and grammar mishaps. One in particular still cracks me up:

“Do U Want ‘Frandship’ With Me?”

And let’s not forget the classic dilemma of picking the perfect relationship status — all while trying not to get caught by family who have no idea you’re secretly hiding a boyfriend in the closet.

Facebook Is Like Your Neighborhood

Forget all the other platforms — Facebook is the one that really feels like a neighborhood. Your friends, family, acquaintances, and even strangers all hang out in the same space.

Deep down, you know people are spying on your every move — but you’re doing it too. Status updates, photos, life moments, random posts… it’s all there for everyone to see and enjoy.

So tell me, how can anyone just forget all these quirky memories and walk away from Facebook like it’s nothing?

Facebook Helped Us Reconnect with Lost Friends

Life gets busy, and before you know it, you lose touch with people. Meeting up feels rare, and calling them sometimes seems like a chore. But thanks to Facebook, we’ve been able to reconnect with friends who had quietly drifted away over time.

I’ve found plenty of people I knew from school — maybe not close friends, but people I shared memories with. And even if we didn’t stay in touch, Facebook lets us catch up on what we missed while we were living our separate lives.

How many old friends have you rediscovered on Facebook?

Leaving the platform would mean missing out on those unexpected reunions — whether it’s classmates, childhood friends, or even past crushes. That’s something worth holding onto.

Can You Really Just Leave Your Facebook Community?

Yeah, Facebook’s been taking a lot of heat lately — but honestly, how easy is it to just ditch your whole community? Some people have hundreds of friends, pages, and groups with thousands of followers. Brands have spent years building loyal fans and active engagement.

So, how do you just say, “Bye, thanks for nothing”?

I saw this great point from graphic designer Will Paterson — he said your fans on social media aren’t just clients, they’re your community.

And let’s be real: would any business want to lose that? Whether your followers are super active or just lurking and window shopping, they’re part of your tribe.

You’ve put in tons of time and effort to grow your reach and get people engaged on Facebook. Are you ready to toss all that out the window? Sure, you could ask your followers to move to a new platform — but that’s a whole other headache.
